Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), CON, FCA.

Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, is a prominent Nigerian politician, chartered accountant, and accomplished parliamentarian. Born on August 10, 1969, in Lagos, he hails from Pahayi, Ilaro, in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State. He currently serves as the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District and is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations in the 10th National Assembly.

Adeola received his primary education at State Primary School in Alimosho, Lagos, and secondary education at Community Grammar School, Akowonjo. He proceeded to Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, where he graduated with a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy. A seasoned professional, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCTI), and a Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).

Before entering public office, he had an exemplary career in accounting, audit, and tax consulting. He worked at The Punch Newspapers, rising to the position of Senior Accountant, before moving to the private audit firm Bawala, Adebayo & Co., and later founding Solex Associate, a chartered accounting and tax consulting firm.

His political journey reflects over two decades of dedicated parliamentary leadership: from the Lagos State House of Assembly (2003–2011) to the Federal House of Representatives (2011–2015), where he chaired the Public Accounts Committee. He then served two terms in the Senate representing Lagos West (2015–2023), chairing the Senate Committee on Finance where he was pivotal in restoring Nigeria's January–December budget cycle and passing multiple Finance Acts. In 2023, he transitioned to his home state, winning election to represent Ogun West in the Senate and assuming the chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Appropriations.

Senator Adeola is widely recognized for his high-impact empowerment programs and legislative facilitation. Notably, he sponsored the bill upgrading the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, to the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro (FUTI), passed by the National Assembly and signed into law. His "Oloja Yayi" Market Support Fund has disbursed non-refundable grants and trade tools to over 15,000 market women and men, complemented by large-scale agricultural interventions, rural electrification with 100+ transformers, scholarships for over 5,000 tertiary students, and modern community healthcare centers across Ogun State.

In recognition of his distinguished service to Nigeria, he was conferred with the national honor of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) by the Federal Government of Nigeria. He also holds respected traditional titles, including the Aremo of Yewaland. As the APC candidate for the 2027 Ogun State gubernatorial election, Senator Adeola champions the "ITESIWAJU OGUN" agenda of policy continuity, grassroots industrialization, and inclusive youth prosperity.
